Austin, San Marcos, TX Press Releases

(Austin.CityRegions.Com, January 26, 2016 ) Austin, Texas -- Today NFP (Nancy's Fancy Products) released a new product - the RFID Blocking Credit Card Case. One of the fastest-growing crimes in America today is electronic pick-pocketing. An easy to obtain RFID reader can be used to gather information from unsuspecting people from as far away as 100 meters. A thief armed with one of these readers can go to a crowded area and collect as many as 1000 credit cards in one afternoon, and the victims will never know that it happened.
Fortunately, determining whether or not credit cards are RFID tagged is very easy. Simply inspect the card for the presence of the Universal Contactless Card Symbol. It looks a little bit like a Wifi signal widget knocked on its side, or more accurately, like a classic radio broadcast frequency wave.
This is the same technology that is used for making purchases at convenience or grocery stores. Approximately 25% of all credit card payments being made today are being performed with RFID technology. Many people have the capability of making these micro transactions but simply didn't realize the option was available to them. While this technology makes paying for things much easier it also puts users at risk.
When asked a spokesperson for NFP had this to say, "This is a new direction for us. We have had some personal experience with credit card and identity theft. We care about people and we don't want them to go through the headaches and hassles that we went through. It is our goal to stop this crime before it can even get started."
