(Austin.CityRegions.Com, May 04, 2016 ) Austin, TX -- OneTweak CEO, Jan Brauner, announced the debut of their pedometer line in England on April 9th, currently selling online at Amazon UK.
"Amazon's online marketplace makes it possible to sell products world-wide without having a bricks and mortar presence," Brauner noted. "This gives sellers an extraordinary reach, unimaginable a relatively short time ago. Even more importantly, it gives consumers a veritable feast of choices." She called it a win-win scenario, one in which everyone benefits.
When asked why British consumers need another pedometer brand, she pointed to several factors including the affordable price. "We try extremely hard to price our pedometer within reach of the average consumer, not just the well-off." Noting the high price of gym memberships and some pedometer models, she said that "fitness should not be a luxury."
She pointed to a second reason for selling in the UK. "I've visited many times. England has lovely countryside and vibrant city-scapes. It's simply a marvelous place to walk." Not only is it a fantastic place to walk, she noted, but walking ranks very high as an outdoor recreation in England. "It just makes sense to sell a pedometer where you have great walkers and great places to walk."
She feels that the OneTweak pedometer distinguishes itself from others, making it a great choice for English consumers. "Our pedometer uses high-tech tri-axis MEMS capacitance technology. This technology makes our pedometer exceptionally accurate." She stated that OneTweak opted against a wrist version due to accuracy concerns. "At the most basic level," she noted, "a pedometer is a motion detector. Even gesticulating while conversing can add to the step count. Our customers value accuracy over fancy."
She also referred to OneTweak's tagline, "Low on Fancy; High on Quality." "Our pedometer IS sleek looking," she noted, "but we certainly did not aim for trendy. Our customers value quality workmanship much more."
She said that online consumer choice far too often comes with shoddy products. "The online marketplace makes it possible for anyone and everyone to sell products. "If you have invested in a bricks and mortar store in a community, the stakes are far higher." She also pointed to the relative anonymity of the online marketplace saying that it can work against the consumer. "That's what makes online reviews so critical. A one-star review can destroy a business if not handled well."
She said that OneTweak exhaustively researched potential factories before selecting the one they use. They also closely monitor any returns or complaints. "Thus far, we've been extremely fortunate. We have never had a pedometer returned because it did not work or was damaged in some way. We put the customer first. Period! With so many choices available, customers are no longer captive to one seller. They vote with their wallets."
She noted that she feels honored by the thousands of votes from her customers. "Their votes speak loud and clear for the quality of our product and our customer service. Not only do they vote with their wallets, they also send me lovely notes daily. My brother, a neurologist, jokingly said that he actually saves lives and does not get notes like these. Truly, my customers' thoughtfulness reminds me daily to be a better customer…nay, a better human-being."
Brauner stated that companies must be both nimble and responsive in the marketplace if they are to survive. "Today's tech-savvy customers no longer feel beholden to impersonal big-name corporations. They don't want to pay for a name. Yes, they want quality. They want affordability. But, they also want that personal touch. They want positive responsive interaction. They want control over the experience…the search, the freedom to decide, the ability to forge their own market. We try very hard to give them all of this and more." She said the online universe expanded the power of the consumer in ways unexpected. "We need to embrace this new frontier," she said.
In closing, Brauner said, "Color me excited to sell our pedometers in England. I can't wait to see what England has in store for us!"
